“ACHOO, ACHOO, ACHOO,
Sneezys in the house.” Typing to you from Yosemite is Grant Berry, Mikyala
Brumbles, Morgan Little, Ashlyn Rhyne, Mary-Charlotte Dusa, Kate Brennan,
Ainsley Butler, Ben Killian, Abby Brown, Chris Bowman, Vanessa Posada, Cat
Chapman, and Kendrick Messerich.
This morning we woke up at a late 6:15. We walked through
the tight hallways of the Lakeside Presbyterian Church, filled with colorful
caterpillar camp art, to the frigid San Fran weather. Our happy group joyfully
packed the bus and we were on our way! It was a quiet morning as we all slept a
whopping hour and a half to the Wally world. Our cooks, the Dopeys, briskly planned
the next three meals while the rest of the group waited in line at the happy
golden arches (Mickey Dees) for a pre-breakfast. With junk food and sweets in
hands, we parted ways again with our beloved Wal-Mart. Back in the vehicles; we
enjoyed a delicious breakfast of muffins and SpongeBob Gogurts.
The folks on the Carolina Girl were in for a long journey,
as they took a detour to pick up our anticipated care packages. Meanwhile, Miss
America and the bus headed through some windy roads to Yosemite National Park.
On the bus, we enjoyed some jams and jokes from Ben Killian, Will Bradley, and
Harrison Parrot. Some knee- slapping jokes included but are not limited to:
what do you call a cow with no legs? Ground beef, haha!
We took multiple stops to capture breathtaking photos of the
picturesque views. It also gave us a chance to stretch our legs and prepare for
the future hikes around Yosemite. We had a great time snapping some quality
photos as seen below! For lunch, we enjoyed some scrumptious all new peanut
butter and jelly sandwiches with an array of sides including chips, fruit
snacks, and Capri suns.
With an emerald shimmering lake in sight, we enjoyed each other’s
company while snapping more photos from the windows. Finally, Miss America and
the bus arrived around 4:00pm and were told the rules of the campsite. Then
some of us ventured off in groups and explored while others enjoyed each company
at the campsite. On the other hand, Carolina Girl shortly arrived after taking
a rejuvenating swim at Emerald Lake. The Dopeys prepared a warm meal of soup
(tomato and chicken noodle) and grilled cheese with a sweet side of cookies and
lemonade. Nice job Dopeys! We did a deep clean after the meal to keep away
local wildlife. The groups proceeded to complete their jobs while admiring the
breathtaking sunset of pink and yellow clouds.
We ended the night with a group sing along, probably our
best yet. We rushed over to our sleeping bags, ready for the cool night ahead
of us. Today was exciting and tomorrow we look forward to driving through Utah.
