Day 14- Driving into Salt Lake City!

Day 14: The Salt Flats

Today, we are officially Teens Eastward Bound. After we conquered the frigid night, we had the luxury of waking up at 7:15 am. This was the start of our long trek out of California, on our way to Utah.

Leaving Yosemite, we saw another beautiful, shimmering lake, and its clear reflection of the scenic mountains. This vast land was filled with monstrous evergreens and rock faces. Some people would even believe that the deep valley, and wonderful mountains were more breathtaking than the Grand Canyon. We started off the day with a delicious breakfast, provided by the Dopeys. This amazing breakfast consisted of cinnamon rolls, raspberry rolls, strawberry rolls, and red and green apples. After we restocked our food supply at Safeway, we sang Happy Birthday to the one and only, Anna Mitchell. Congrats to this dancing queen on being 17! From there, we traveled on the bus and the vans towards our destination.

Our quest eastward bound consisted of singing songs, card games, beauty sleep, and the making of even more friendship bracelets. For lunch we had our second round of pizza wraps, chips, and cookies. Although, they were rather messy, they were very delicious. There was even a surplus of food so many of us chowed down on seconds. After lunch, we made a quick pit stop at a peculiar rest stop. Here we pooped and peed in a black hole of what looked like a shed from a wild west film. Our lovely bus driver, Joseph, was our cowboy to the rescue with a large bottle of Germ-X to sanitize our hands. After this stop, our trek continued.

We said bye bye Nevada as we shortly entered the state of Utah. Since we our now in a new time zone, we had to set our watches forward by one hour. Once we arrived in this breathtaking state, we saw what we thought was snow, however it was Utah’s famous salt flats.  The people on the bus saw a car on the flats and thought it was driving on water. People were pondering the question “ Is that Jesus, reinCARnated?”

A few miles later, we once again stopped at a rest stop. Here we used a much cleaner restroom. After we relieved ourselves, we licked the salt patches near us. It was scrumptious! We were now even saltier, than before. After our appetizer of salt, we had a main course of ham/turkey and cheese subs. The subs were complimented with more tasteful chips, cookies, and delicious condiments. After dinner, our intimate conversations began once again. The ride after dinner was about two hours long (always two hours away).

Now we impatiently waited for the moment, which we have all dreamed about. Mail Day! We finally arrived at our lovely gym we will hunker down in tonight. Before we could open our mail from you, our family and friends, we had to complete our daily duties. Even though we would soon find out that all the gifts were great before we could open them, Dallas made us dance Ring-Around-the-Rosie so we would all open all are gifts at the same time. Thank you so much for all of our packages!! We love our snacks, clothes, pictures, beach balls and a couple got a whole batch of Grandma’s cookies. After all the gifts were opened people began to rearrange their duffels to fit all their new goodies while some of these guys began to play a game of wall ball.

Thank you so much for giving us something to look forward to and enjoy, it truly gave us a little taste of home while in Utah. As we close the night with happy hearts, tummies full of yummies and lots of giggles, we look forward to a new day on the magnificent TWB adventure tomorrow.
