Rise and Shine! The Sleepys are back again to tell you about
our magical day in Disneyland.
Our day started at 12:30 AM when we were awoken by the
sprinkler system in the Anaheim RV Park. Many of us were confused and thought
it was already time to wake up after hearing Dallas shout “get up, get up!. We moved all of our belongings off of the
grass and onto the concrete to dry in the morning. After this disruption, we all went right back
to sleep and later woke up to a delicious breakfast of cereal and strawberries
prepared by the Bashful group. We were
all filled with joy as we headed to “The Happiest Place On Earth.”
We left the Anaheim RV Park around 7:30 and walked to
Disneyland in a minuscule 40 minutes due to misdirection, which led us to the
rear entrance of the park (which meant we did not have to wait in any security
lines!). Before entering the park, we
walked through the streets of Anaheim and Downtown Disney. At 8:15 we entered the
park and took a group photo in front of the Disneyland Railroad and then we all
rode Pirates of the Caribbean and Indiana Jones Adventure together. The Pirates
of the Caribbean ride was so realistic that we felt we were on a voyage on the
deep blue sea. The Indiana Jones Adventure ride was suspenseful because we had
to survive the famous Indiana Jones bolder rush. After we rode the two rides
together we all split up into big groups and conquered Disneyland.
In our big groups, we walked around Disneyland traveling to
different sections of the park such as Fantasyland, Adventureland,
Tomorrowland, and several more. In these lands, we rode many exciting and
thrilling rides, ate great food, and shopped in the various gift stores. We
also rode classic rides including the Mad Hatter Teacups, Matterhorn Bobsleds,
and Space Mountain. In the heat of the day, many rode Splash Mountain to cool
off with Briar Rabbit. Others cooled off by getting Mickey Mouse themed ice
cream and lemonade. Once we were hungry, some ate lunch in the park while
others ate outside. Throughout the day, many of us took pictures with our favorite
childhood characters such as Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and Woody. Harrison
Parrot also had an interesting day as he lost a game of what are the odds to
paint the Cheshire cat on his entire face for the rest of the day. We also got
to stop for a few minutes and watch the Pixar Fest Parade. It was interactive
with many dancers (some were even on stilts!) and characters from various Pixar
movies.
After the parade, some groups ate at McDonalds, IHOP (not
IHOB), and Panera Bread. Others didn’t want to take a break from the magic of
Disney and ate inside the park, at places like the Pizza Planet (from Toy
Story), the French Market Restaurant, and the Plaza Inn. As the night went on
some of the groups were doing last minute shopping before the fireworks
started. Alyssa Powell, Makenzi Stiles, Peyton Dyksterhouse, Ben Killian,
Hannon Herring, Vanessa Posada, Mikayla Brumbles, Vivian Cline, and Logan Trotter
were shopping when all of a sudden they looked around and spotted Jason Earle
from Hannah Montana (Hannah Montana’s brother)!!! They quickly ran over to take
pictures with him and he asked them about our trip and why they were doing what
they were doing. They were all shocked because they couldn’t believe what had
just happened. Once it all set in, they along with many others walked out of
the store to watch the spectacular firework show that Disneyland had presented.
Most of us watched the fireworks above the Sleeping Beauty Castle known as “Together
Forever”, a Pixar nighttime spectacular. It consisted of Disney themed music,
pyrotechnics, and sensational projections. There was also an amazing Pixar
mash-up water show that many of us watched. After the fireworks around 10:40 Nadia
Constantino, Holly Skipper, Mary Charlotte Dusa, Chris Bowman, Kendrick Messerich
and Genevieve Fortier rode Indian Jones Adventure one last time. The funny
thing is that the ride stopped while they were in the dark section. Nadia turned
her flashlight on and discovered that it was even scarier from how realistic
everything looked. As it got closer to 11:00 everyone began to wrap up their
last rides and get some last looks at the park. We all met at McDonalds where
our counselors shuttled us back to the RV Park and we went to bed.
